Glorious Landscapes

23rd March 2010
Carsten's new book Ireland - Glorious Landscapes will be out this May. The book is currently en-route from the printer in Italy and everybody is very exited to see the finished book.
The book has been the biggest challenge in Carsten's career yet. After a book on the Burren and another one on Ireland's West, each more than 3 years in the making, it was only a matter of time until a book on the whole of Ireland had to be attempted.
However the format and time scale in which Ireland - Glorious Landscapes was finally realized isn't probably what one would expect from a photographer like Carsten. A paperback aimed at the tourist market with the majority of the images made in just 18 months has not really the flair of fine art landscape photography.
Carsten signed up anyway to prove that it is possible to produce a mass market photo book with images that don't look like they were made with a mobile phone out of a driving car within a very tight deadline.
The result of this decision were 18 months (during which he also delivered his baby daughter in the kitchen of his home in West Clare) on the road traveling to (almost) every corner of Ireland. Unlike with his other projects Carsten couldn't always wait for the perfect conditions to make the image. This time he had to work with or around the Irish weather. Surprisingly this approach produced some of his best images yet.
We just launched a dedicated gallery to which we will regularly add images during the run-up to the publication of Ireland - Glorious Landscapes which is also available for pre-order.
