Workshops
Carsten Krieger is one of Ireland’s most experienced landscape and nature photographers. He has been leading photo courses for the Minolta Photo Club and the renowned German photo tour operator Reisen in die Natur.
In 2008 Carsten launched his individual workshops, which proved hugely successful. Small group sizes (1-4 participants) and a tailor-made schedule make the workshops suitable for everybody from complete beginner to advanced amateur. The workshops can be held anywhere in Ireland.
What you need to bring:
Camera and lenses:
Digital or film SLR and lenses from wide angle to telephoto.
Tripod:
This is the most important tool beside your camera & lenses. If you don’t have one yet we have some loan tripods available.
Filters:
Most useful are Graduated Neutral Density Filters and Polarizing Filters. If you don’t have one we have some loan filters available.
What you will learn:
The main subject of this workshop is composition for landscape and nature photography: How to create stunning images. Learn how to find the right viewpoint for your image and how to choose the right lens for the job. Learn how to work in different weather conditions and how to use available light or the lack of it. Learn the rules of composition and when to break them and how to develop your own style.
In addition you will learn about:
Equipment: How to choose the right equipment for your needs. Learn what you need and what you don’t.
Exposure: Learn how to get correctly exposed images the easy way every time.
Filters: Learn when and how to use graduated neutral density filters and the polarizing filter.
Develop & Print: This includes RAW conversion, how to work with curves, colour correction, sharpening, noise reduction and preparing your digital files for print. You will be using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Schedule (example – depending on your requirements, weather and time of year):
Day 1
10am – 1pm: theory
1pm: lunch
3pm: photo shoot flowers / macro
6pm – sunset: photo shoot landscape
Day 2:
Before sunrise – 8am: photo shoot landscape on location
9am: breakfast & free time until lunch
1pm: lunch
2pm – 4pm: develop & print, analysis of images, theory OR photo shoot flowers / macro
5pm – sunset: photo shoot landscape on location OR develop & print, analysis of images, theory
Prices:
Day 1: € 180.00/person
Day 2 and consecutive days: € 150.00/person/day
Accommodation and meals not included.
