Picture of the Month

Killarney National Park never disappoints. I spent a few days in Kerry to make the first images for a new project on Ireland's woodlands. The weather was perfect. Calm and dull. Nevertheless I found myself wandering through Killarney's forests rather uninspired and ended up on the shores of Lough Leane around dawn.
The mountains on the opposite shore were shrouded in low cloud and mist and the rising sun did its best to break through. Just a glimpse however managed to light up the cloud and reflect on the water. That was all I needed. The moment lasted less than a minute and this is the only exposure that works. The other exposures I made lack that little bit of light in the clouds and on the water and just don't have the ahhh effect. A fine example of the impact of light, even the smallest amount, in the craft of landscape photography.
